(This piece is written from my perspective - that of an American.) On September 11th 2001 my country, America, suffered a horrendous attack on our homeland. With regards to that day and our national security a retired CIA officer said, on that day the gloves came off. That of course is how the whole country felt. We all saw the towers fall and could not believe it. It was devastating and we all felt it nationwide.

(This piece is written from my perspective - that of an American.) Right now the U.S. military (the military of my home country) is spread out all over the globe. There is no doubt Americans support their troops that point is never questioned and when when i msay theirs I means ours as I am an American also. But why our military leaders insist we be spread ourselves out all over the map is another question entirely, one we have a right to be asking. Bob Gates said recently that cuts to US defense would hurt our military might. (http://www.freep.com/article/20110525/NEWS07/105250374/Defense-Secretary...) The insinuation of course was that we and of course American Interests would be less safe , but who exactly is he talking about?

Right now conservatives and progressives across my country, America, are considering ways to cut government spending. One of the options tossed about concerns cuts to military spending. Within this area there are so many things to consider. There are so many things to discuss and ways to break each of them down.
